About the Agency

The State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established by Decree No. 205 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On measures to improve the use of the subsoil, its protection and management mechanisms and strengthen state control in this area" dated 16 July 2018. Also, the Charter and main activities of the Agency were approved and identified by Decree No. 613 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the activities of the State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources" dated 9 April 2019.

The State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources is a public legal entity regulating the types of subsoil use provided for in the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Subsoil", exercising control over compliance with legislation, existing standards and requirements pertaining to subsoil use and protection, organizing competitions and auctions on subsoil use and providing services in this area.

The main objective of the State Agency for the Use of Mineral Resources is to achieve sustainable use of subsoil as well as fair regulation of state, social and entrepreneurial interests through transparent management and application of the principles of responsible production.

Mission

The mission of the Agency is to regulate the types of subsoil use, exercise control over compliance with legislation, established standards and requirements pertaining to area of the subsoil use and protection, ensure effective, safe and transparent subsoil use, expand and strengthen the mineral resource base, participate in the formulation of State policy in this area and ensure its implementation.
